Anointed
What great timing to have this entry topic just a few days after our church service that included an opportunity for anointing!
In the devotional booklet, Wiltschek describes the anointing service at the end of senior high camp: “It’s both powerful and emotionally exhausting, and one of those times when the tingling of the Spirit is tangible.”
In Sunday’s sermon, Naomi said this about the practice of anointing: “There’s nothing magical in the oil or in the act that leads to healing. But the grace and power of the Spirit can be present, even in the simplest of gestures.”
I wonder if that same connection with the Spirit through anointing is available for us whenever we need it, if we will simply take the time to slow down and be mindful and purposeful in seeking it.
That is a really good question, Chris. I don't know the answer. I'm guessing that it has something to do with the peace we feel when we are still with God. That centering can feel empowering. Perhaps it makes some people feel bold.
