The writer specifies Jerusalem as God's intended target of the message in this passage. In metaphoric language, we have a picture of a preferable community. I would lean toward viewing the notions of longevity, unity, and justice as geared toward a community (God's people) that has experienced death, division and injustice. As I read the "all flesh is grass" passage for next Saturday, I see the limitations of the longevity of human life compared to the infinite nature of God's word.
