More than 40 members of the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren attended NOAC on the shore of Lake Junaluska, North Carolina, September 2–7. It is a time to enjoy worship, learn, laugh, experience natural beauty, and rest or relax (who had time for that). NOAC has been described as “Annual Conference without any business sessions.”
It is a time to renew and make new friendships with our Church of the Brethren family age 50+ from across the denomination. The planning committee did an excellent job of arranging and scheduling excellent worship leaders, speakers, musicians, arts/crafts projects, service projects, recreational activities, bus trips, ice cream socials, and meaningful insight sessions.
NOAC cannot occur without the hilarious, humorous, entertaining, and informative “NOAC NEWS” produced by David Sollenberger, Larry Glick and Chris Brown. This year a highlight was the teaming up of Ken Medema and Ted Swartz to present a musical/comedian program. It is our hope that the NOACers can sponsor their appearance at Etown CoB in March 2020. Our own Jean Moyer was a “hit” at the talent show and is featured on the NOAC website.
If one tried to participate in every opportunity provided, he/she would return home invigorated, inspired—and totally exhausted; therefore, it is imperative to spend a little time enjoying the scenery and the many rocking chairs. We look forward to attending the 2021 NOAC and encourage you to attend. Visit brethren.org/noac for more information.
What a wonderful group of people! So happy to work with all of you!
