Books, art, music lyrics, films, celebrities, sports athletes, Insta reels–so many pieces of popular culture over centuries have influenced what Christians believe. In what ways has Dante’s epic poem The Divine Comedy affected depictions of heaven and hell? How has the Left Behind book series influenced the idea of the rapture? Have Mel Gibson’s 2004 film The Passion of the Christ and the more recent TV series The Chosen shaped popular views of Jesus’ life and death? Join us in late July and August to consider some of these curious influences on Christianity. Are we “Culturally Christian”?
