About the event
The play (a directed stage reading) lasting 35–40 minutes presents us with children living with their grandparents because their mother and father were victims in a mass killing. A year has passed. Granddad (Howard) and Gram (Rachel), wanting to do the best they can for their grandchildren Eve (age 13) and Daniel (age 12), think moving to another country will protect them—keep them safe. Eve and Daniel think there’s got to be a better way to move through the trauma and face the future. How will this grieving and loving family hear each other’s concerns? How will they find a way forward together?
Each generation has its own agenda rooted in age, maturity, grief, and personal experience yet bonded by shared loss and family love. In a half-hour, experience their discovery of self and each other and consider the implications for families, neighborhoods, and even nations. Discover how insight, wisdom and healing can come from unexpected sources. This play also affirms the wisdom, sensitivity and intelligence of children that is often not fully appreciated.
The play will be followed by a discussion led by Pastor Pam.
