All adults are welcome to join Christina Bucher & John David Bowman as they explore Processing our Faith in the 21st Century: A gentle introduction of Process Theology.
Here will be help for those who have found that our ways of understanding faith in God no longer seem to align with our understanding of 21st century life in an increasingly scientific age. For over 40 decades, another way of understanding God which aligns both with the biblical witness and with a scientific world view has been gaining thoughtful ground. Process Theology has a vision of God that is less like a king and more like an energy field, less like a puppeteer and more like an inner yearning toward future possibilities of beauty and harmony, less a noun and more a verb. As such, Process Theology aligns well with Church of the Brethren sensitivities to community, service, stewardship, peace, and in all things following the teachings and example of Jesus. But how it goes about these values is through eye-opening ways which breathe new life in familiar biblical texts. We will consider such questions as . . .
- Is my faith evolving or remaining static?
- Would it be helpful to rethink my childhood faith?
- How can I today better understand beliefs 2000 years old?
- Will Process Theology destroy my faith or enrich it?
