Discovery Class–Shirley Hershey Showalter former president of Goshen College and co-founder of Grandmas for Love (GFL) in Lancaster County presents "What's an Angry Old Mennonite to Do?" In 2021, Shirley and her husband Stuart moved to Moravian Manor in Lititz. For Shirley it was a homecoming. (She graduated from Warwick High School in 1966.) Soon after they moved, Shirley had a conversation on the sidewalk that alerted her to problems at the school board. Moms for Liberty was active in the area, before long Shirley and two friends decided to respond by creating Grandmas for Love. GFL became active in school board elections in 2023, 2025, and anticipates actions in 2027. From the perspective of Anabaptist Christian faith, how do we stand up for those who are attacked without becoming violent ourselves?
