I don't know that this is slowing down, but I can enter a world of gratitude often when I am driving. I look out at the landscape and see so much to be thankful for in our beautiful world. One of the images I have always enjoyed it that of fresh fallen snow silhouetted against the multitude of tree branches. I like seeing their intricacies, the play of black/brown against a white background. It fills me with wonder and peace. It is kind of like God's scherenschnitte paper cutting - a form of art that I have also always liked very much.
"Scherenschnitte"? That was a new word for me. But now, thanks to Google, I know what it means. Turns out we have a scherenschnitte ornament, and I didn't even know it. (Happens to be one of my favorites.) And yes, for me, the ability to google is "wondrous" thing for which I am grateful.
