What you can expect when you visit us

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing

some have entertained angels unawares.

Hebrews 13: 2

We strive to be very intentional about being a welcoming congregation. From the moment you enter through any of our doors, you can expect a warm greeting and a handshake from one of our many greeters. When you visit our congregation, you'll also be greeted and welcomed by our pastors and members of the congregation. All visitors are invited to join a small group from the congregation for lunch at a local restaurant following worship (your lunch is on us!)
We seek to engage both heart and mind during each worship service through music, prayer, scripture and sermon that all connect to a worship theme for the week. Through worship together, we strive to explore and grapple with tough questions and challenging issues of 21st Century living while maintaining our roots in the teachings of the New Testament and our Brethren heritage of pursuing peace and serving others.

We intentionally hold just one worship service each Sunday, which supports our belief in the importance of worshipping God together in creative and meaningful ways. Through a variety of styles of music, prayer and sermons, we attempt to appeal to a diverse range of preferences in worship.

In order to make our worship services accessible to all, we offer:

  • Child care for infants and young children during worship - located on the lower level of the Christian Education wing
  • Children's bulletins for ages 3-6 and 7-12 for those children who join us for worship services
  • Time With Our Children during most worship services provides a short message to engage children and explain the week's worship theme
  • Large print bulletins
  • Assistive listening devices
  • Copies of sermons are available after each service through the church office or online at our website (SUNDAY MORNINGS-->SERMONS)
  • Audiotapes of worship services are available after each service through the church office
  • The Church Parlor provides an alternative space for listening to the worship service

We hope you will find the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren to be a faith community that is inviting, nurturing, accepting and welcoming.
