. . . Guide our feet into the way of peaceLuke 1 : 79 Peacemaking is at the core of our Brethren heritage. Promoting peace and justice in our neighborhoods and around the world is an essential part of our congregational mission at Elizabethtown. The Peace Group in our congregation works through education, discussion and prayer to advocate for peace and engage in local, regional, national and international peace initiatives. Activities have included participation in peace marches and rallies, letter-writing campaigns, sponsoring speakers and educational programs on peace and others. The Peace Group collaborates with several other organizations dedicated to peace and justice issues, including: - The Elizabethtown College Alumni Peace Fellowship (ECAPF) is a community of alumni responsive to the enduring relevance of the College’s peace identity. The Fellowship seeks to affirm and promote the values of peace, non-violence, human dignity, and social justice in the global community. (many members of the ECOB Peace Group are also leaders of the ECAPF)
- The Lancaster Interchurch Peace Witness
- On Earth Peace, an agency of the Church of the Brethren empowering people to discern the things that make for peace.
- Brethren Witness/Washington Office, which seeks to resource and call to action the larger church in relation to issues of peace, justice and the global community.
The group meets the 1st Tuesday of each month, from 10:30 - 11:45 a.m. in the Church Parlor. For more information, contact Dale Brown or Gene Clemens. Recent Peace Group Events:
