WEEKLY GROUPS

  • Monday Morning Women's Bible Study - Currently looking at the Old Testament, this group provides friendship and support as the participants seek spiritual guidance through studying scripture.
    • Mondays, 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. , church parlor. Contact: Shirley Byerly.
  • Chancel Choir is a group of committed adults that provides music during worship services and other occasions throughout thChoire year. Open to all interested persons.
    • REHEARSALS: Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m., Church choir room, Contact: Josh Tindall: 717-367-1000.
  • Memorial Bells is our handbell choir. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Ron Bellamy.
    • REHEARSALS: Thursdays, 6:00 p.m., Contact: Ron Bellamy, 717-367-1000.
  • Quilters - Meets weekly to create full-size quilts and wall hangings to donate to the district's Disaster Relief Auction.
    • Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. until Noon, Room 230, Contact: Anna Belser.
  • Mood Disorder Support Group - Persons dealing with depression or family members of depressed people meet weekly for support, understanding and encouragement. Confidentiality is kept within the group.
    • The group meets Thursdays, 6:00 p.m. at the church during the school year. Contact: Michelle Morrison, 717-689-3086.
  • Lunch Bunch - Meets weekly for lunch at local restaurants right after Sunday worship services. Visitors to our church are invited to join the group as our guest.
    • Sundays, right after worship service. See weekly bulletin for location. Contact: Mary Ann Killian.

MONTHLY GROUPS

  • Merry Magdalenes - For women over (or under) 50. Meets in a variety of locations once or twice monthly for activities. Contact: MaryAnn Keesey.
  • Book Club - Meets monthly to discuss a book chosen by consensus. Discussion is shared without formal leadership.
    • The group meets the 1st Monday of each month, 7 - 9 p.m. during the school year.  Contact: Rose Ann Wade.
  • 50+ Group - Meeting primarily for social purposes, this group gathers monthly for fun activities including game nights, trips, dinner-theater and get-togethers for folks over 50.
    • Contact: Herb and Joanne High.
  • Comfort Knotting - a small group that meets monthly to sew and knot comforters to be distributed to agencies serving persons who might need an extra blanket during the colder seasons of the year. No experience necessary and all men, women, young and old are invited.
    • 1st Tuesday of each month, 8:30-10:30 a.m., Fellowship Hall, Contact: Betty Goodling.
  • Peace Group - works through education, discussion and prayer to advocate for peace and engage in local, regional, national and international peace initiatives. Activities have included participation in peace marches and rallies, letter-writing campaigns, sponsoring speakers and educational programs on peace and others.
    • 1st Tuesday of each month, Church Parlor, Contact: Gene Clemens.  The group does not meet over the summer.
  • Families with Young Children Potluck Dinners (Supper Club) - These dinners provide a chance to meet, gather, catch up and move forward together as a community. Parents bring their children, a dish to share, and place settings for their family. Drinks are provided.
    • 2nd Sunday of each month, 4:30 p.m., Fellowship Hall, Contact: Pam Hudson, Jen Poff.  The group does not meet over the summer.

AD HOC GROUPS AND EVENTS

  • Model Trains - meets occasionally to prepare for community model train shows. Contact: Craig Coble.
  • Simple Living - meets occasionally on Sundays to discuss approaches and challenges to living simply. Contact: Sandy Snowden, Dona McDonough or Sue Wagner Fields.
  • Adoption/Infertility Support Group - Individuals meet periodically, to gain knowledge and to share emotional support. It invites members of the community to speak on medical treatment as well as adoption success stories. Contact: Sandy Snowden.
  • Women's Spiritual Retreat - held in the spring, this intergenerational gathering provides an opportunity for women to reflect, pray and grow together in their spiritual journey.   
  • Etown Church of the Brethren Softball Team - throughout the summer, our congregation fields a team that plays a full schedule of games against other church teams in the region.
  • Camp Swatara offers facilities for families interested in camping together, including tent, camper and RV sites, or you can reserve a site just for a day for a family gathering. Camp Swatara has basketball, volleyball, softball and soccer facilities, a swimming pool, a miniature golf course, boating, canoeing and paddleboats, fishing, bike trails, hiking trails, playgrounds and many other great facilities for families.
